And 100, 12″ vinyl albums, with full size album covers & artwork, will be coming out around Christmas.

“Light & Alive” Mini Concert

Hey folks! Here’s something different! A mini concert, with five songs performed and filmed live, with a little rooftop intro on the top of our studio building. All of the songs are original tunes, most from our upcoming album “Parameters.”

It’s been really hard to get the scattered band members all in one place to do many live shows, so this is our substitute. We had a great time performing these songs! Hope you enjoy!”

FSB featured by WOUB – Still “all about the music”

WOUB’s Emily Votaw met up with the band at Vinyl Coffee in Washington Courthouse for an interview about what has, and hasn’t, changed about making music together post-COVID.

Check out the interview here: https://woub.org/2022/05/13/the-fearless-starlight-band-is-still-all-about-the-music-after-finally-getting-back-together-post-covid/

Here’s a lot more of the backstory – at the top of the page, you’ll find a video by Brad Kisley of some of our practice sessions, with the instrumental version of one of the band’s tunes in the background.

Fusion: The Old & The New

Our newest album features 12 new songs – a fusion of old and new styles we had a blast recording and hope you’ll enjoy. Check out the album on Spotify, Apple Music, or SoundCloud

Nashville Nights

Our newest album features 6 new songs – a combination of originals and covers – all written or recorded at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville. Our favorite track is “So Long.” Special thanks to Amy Sheeter for the amazing CD design!

Climax

FSB’s new double album features 25 original songs which highlight the “mild side” and the “wild side.” All songs and lyrics were written by Frank, with considerable music production assistance from Branson Moody, who also performed the guitars and most bass.

Listen to Climax on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, and Bandcamp!!

The Covers

We’re proud to share our newest album – The Covers. We had a great time creating our own take on these classic songs – learning, practicing, recording, and performing them.

Many of these songs we either grew up with or older friends turned us on to them. Most are classics, and we hope we’ve done them justice.

You can find the album on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, and Google Play

The Nashville Tracks

This new EP of songs recorded live in Music City, will be released soon.

Here’s a free link to what may be the best song from these sessions, called “Keep on Believin'”

88 year old Willie Nelson and his new young band, recorded a session apx. 15 hours before FSB arrived at one of the studios, called ‘The Tracking Room.”

Being recorded live, some of the tracks came out better than others. But they all have that raw, natural continuity, that only happens when all the band members are playing at the same time!

Here’s a link to the whole set. The EP will be officially released on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon & Google Music in early March!

World Premiere of FSB’s First Music Video – “Forever”

The wait is over! Enjoy the world premiere of the music video for Forever!

Thank you to Olive Township Volunteer Fire DepartmentWhite Schwarzel Funeral Home, Eden United Brethren in Christ Church and so many of our fans for helping us make this video.

Who is the Fearless Starlight Band?

The Fearless Starlight Band (“FSB” — not to be confused with Federal Security Bureau, the successor to the Russian KGB), is a collection of revolving musicians and audio engineers centered in or near Athens, Ohio – – home of Ohio University (for more information on these collaborations, check out this article from WOUB or click on the “Collaborators” link in the site menu above).

The main songwriter and vocalist is Athens, Ohio attorney Frank Lavelle, dba Ohio River Records. Frank has over 30 years experience as a practicing attorney, having represented thousands of clients.

Many of their stories have worked their way into the lyrics of the songs. For example: FSB’s recent single “What Remains” – – the “ultimate, kick-ass break up song,” as one of the musicians described it – – has a passage about being served with summons, in a divorce case. . . (part of a recent “A/B” release – – “Surrender” and “What Remains” – – see below).

“Fools Me Every Time” from the Infinity (Breaking Through) EP, contains some of the exact words of a young Appalachian man, trying to kick opioids, as they were related to Frank.

Therefore, much of the song writing is the “channeling” of experiences of hundreds of different people over the years.

Four full albums, a couple singles, and a “compilation” CD have been released so far. Click here, or access “Music” in the site menu above to sample and purchase. New songs are being developed all the time (a word on that below…)

And then there’s the “real story”

CLICK HERE to access a Release, which tells the “real” back story of The Fearless Starlight Band – – how they happened upon the earth in the Spring of 2016 – – and why they must get their songs played on the radio, to “call home!”

FSB’s Singles

Check out FSB’s recent single – “It All Goes Down”  (“Down,” for short).

The song starts out slowly, gets going @ apx. 0:30, revs up through the solos, then really takes off !

Down (Mastered)- The Fearless Starlight Band

“Down” is part of a compilation CD, which contains a new version of the song which started it all . . . “No One Said That It’d be Easy,” as well as 11 of the best songs from prior CD’s/EP’s.

Click here to listen to It All Goes Down and the other singles included on the compilation CD.

And the two newest singles are posted below, called “Surrender” and “What Remains” – – two very different songs.

Surrender is the mellow tune, and evokes memories of the sweet initial heartstrings of falling in love.

      Surrender

What Remains is the nasty tune. The “yang” to the “ying” of Surrender. Part of the melody line and the guitar hooks were first conceived decades ago.

Described by one of the musicians as the “ultimate kick-ass breakup song,” that description seems to fit. “Black and white and read, then out the door!…” conjures up the image of getting the text (or Summons!) and realizing — it’s over!

Just the right combination of phlegm, angst, watered-down whiskey, and attitude — you get the idea.

      What Remains

How the Band Got Its Name

When Frank was in his early 20’s, he traveled around the USA, Canada and Mexico off-on for a couple years. He lived for a while in the Colorado Rockies, working in a molybdenum mine; worked landscaping in Oregon; and worked restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area while living on a houseboat in Sausalito.

One of the few possessions always taken with him, while traveling, was his 6 string acoustic guitar.

One night in the Florida Keys, he gazed up at the blazing stars in the night sky. . . and made a prayer to the universe, that someday, he just wanted to be involved in the production and performance of musical compositions. . .

He realized at that point in his young life, he didn’t have the courage to actually undertake such a task, as his life’s profession – – while taking a break from college and law school.

Hence, the combination of words for the name of the band “The Fearless Starlight Band” – – having finally found the gumption, to start on such a Project !

Both the legal work, and the music work, continue. . .

Remember – – only the fearless starlight reaches the earth !
